A few years ago, the parents of Becca Dowling-Fitzpatrick individually battled cancer . . . first father with bladder cancer then mother with breast cancer. Christians Overcoming Cancer was there to lend the family emotional support and serve as a financial relief resource. Their battles could have had a traumatic affect on a young girl but not Becca. Their battles motivated her to do the best in everything she could and to follow her passion . . . her passion of playing soccer and of helping others. We are pleased to announce that her passion for soccer and helping others will to be spotlighted before the world.
Earlier this year Becca, a senior at St. Francis DeSales High School, went to Pittsburgh and Atlanta successfully trying out for the U.S. Deaf Soccer Team. She is now a member of the United States Deaf Soccer Team, and has been selected to play in the World Deaf Soccer Football Championships which will take place July 16-28, 2012 in Ankara, Turkey. She will also play in an exhibition game in Columbus, Ohio at Crew Stadium on Saturday, April 28.
To help fund the trip to Ankara, Turkey, Becca has chosen Christians Overcoming Cancer (COC) as her charity sponsor. As charity sponsor, COC will raise the money to cover Becca's trip expenses. Monies raised beyond trip expenses will be used in support of COC's mission. COC is a 501C3 nonprofit that provides awareness, emotional support and financial relief services to adults, and parents of children, in active treatment for cancer.
